Harris County Residential Values Increase 8.8%

  Property tax assessments for homes were increased by 8.8% for the tax year 2021, based on a review of 232,363 homes valued by Harris Appraisal District. Homes valued between 300K to 500K had the largest increases, average 9.7% higher than 2020. Review of 232,363 homes valued at $300,000 or indicates an increase in assessed value of $127.8 billion, up 8.14% from $138.2 billion in 2021. Total property taxes for 2021 for homes valued over $300,000 would total $3,801.0 million, based on a 2.7% tax rate before considering homestead exemptions. Harris has 26,247 homes valued at $1 million or higher. They are valued at $45.6 billion in 2021, up from $42.5 billion in 2020. Values were increased for 20,831 homes, reduced for 3,024 homes, and remained flat for 2,392 homes. Williamson County Residential Values Increase 22%

  Property tax assessments for homes were increased by 22% for the tax year 2021, based on a review of 104,838 homes valued by Williamson Appraisal District. Homes valued between $500K to $1 million had the largest increases, average 22.2% higher than 2020. Review of 104,838 homes valued at $300,000 or indicates an increase in assessed value of $37.2 billion, up 16.5% from $43.35 billion in 2021. Total property taxes for 2021 for homes valued over $300,000 would total $1266.5 million, based on a 2.7% tax rate before considering homestead exemptions. Williamson has 1,224 homes valued at $1 million or higher. They are valued at $1.2 billion in 2021, up from $1 billion in 2020. Wise County Residential Values Increase 15.9%

  Property tax assessments for homes were increased by 15.9% for the tax year 2021, based on a review of 7,478 homes valued by Wise Appraisal District.  Homes valued between $500k to $1 million had the largest increases, average 16.8% higher than 2020. Review of 7,478 homes valued at $300,000 or indicates an increase in assessed value of $2.46 billion, up 15.8% from 2.85 billion in 2021.  Total property taxes for 2021 for homes valued over $300,000 would total $100.17 million, based on a 2.7% tax rate before considering homestead exemptions. Wise has 299 homes valued at $1 million or higher.  They are valued at $0.18 billion in 2021, up from $0.15 billion in 2020.  Values were increased for 267 homes, reduced for 24 homes, and remained flat for 8 homes. Review of 136,150 homes valued at $300,000 or indicates an increase in assessed value of $56.16 billion, up 11.3% from 62.55 billion in 2021. Wise Appraisal Districts Raises Commercial Values 10.2% In 2021

  Most property owners believe appraisal districts should cut taxable values in 2021. 93% of Texas property owners surveyed by O’Connor thought appraisal districts should reduce values in 2021 due to the impact of COVID. Wise Appraisal District raised the overall taxable value of commercial properties by 10.2%, for the 8,143 commercial properties with 2021 values available.
